Behind the Scenes with Bonita #17 (16 Aug 2010 -> 22 Aug 2010)

Dear community,

Did you see this mention in Jason Brooks’ recent review of Bonita Open Solution?  “I found [the Bonita Community forums] to be a good source of information as I felt my way through the product.”

Way to go, Bonita community!

Quick View of User Experience

Bonita User Experience (User XP) provides the interface for managing individual steps, cases in progress, and deployed processes.

It presents this information in a Web-based, e-mail like interface. When you as the Process developer enter from Bonita Studio, you are automatically logged in as “Admin” with the password bpm.

The Admin’s User Experience assigned to the administrator permits you to monitor and interact with Processes deployed by the developer. This video shows a quick overview of some of the User Experience functions unique to the Administrator. Read the rest of this entry »

Bonita Open Solution modeling and the Workflow Patterns initiative, Part 2

This week we have tackled Workflow Patterns initiative patterns 13-24. The results are posted in Contributions here and here:

13. Multiple Instances with a Priori Design-Time Knowledge
14. Multiple Instances with a Priori Run-Time Knowledge
16. Deferred Choice
21. Structured Loop
24. Persistent Trigger

We invite your feedback on these – if you have a better BOS-built model to suggest for any of these patterns, please do! There are some tricky ones in here.

Workflow Patterns not yet modeled (or not supported) with BOS:

15. Multiple Instances without a Priori Run-Time Knowledge
17. Interleaved Parallel Routing
18. Milestone
19. Cancel Task
20. Cancel Case
22. Recursion
23. Transient Trigger

What have you done with Bonita? Can you fill in some of the blanks in our list?

Behind the Scenes with Bonita #16 (9 Aug 2010 -> 14 Aug 2010)

Dear Community,

It’s getting quiet.  Around us, France begins its month-long holiday.  But we have milestones to meet, bugs to fix, features to add.  So the BonitaSoft offices stay open and the developers stay busy.

Contributions

You know that BonitaSoft employees are ineligible to win the Process Challenge, right? So are members of their families, and their pets, and their family members’ pets. So the contest is still wide open, though among the code dudes at BonitaSoft it’s Mickael Istria in the leadRead the rest of this entry »

Bonita Open Solution modeling and the Workflow Patterns initiative, Part 1

The Workflow Patterns initiative has published a set of detailed workflow pattern descriptions to define control flow in process technology. There are also evaluations of which open-source and commercial products support which of these patterns.

Bonita is among the solutions evaluated, but the site has not yet been updated with an evaluation of Bonita Open Solution.  We’re looking at which patterns BOS supports, and we’ll publish them in the community contributions section as we go.

We invite your feedback on these – if you have a better BOS-built model to suggest for any of these patterns, please do! Read the rest of this entry »

Behind the Scenes with Bonita #15 (2 Aug 2010 -> 8 Aug 2010 )

Dear community,

It’s been a while since we posted Behind the Scenes. (Did you miss us while we were gone?) But we are back, and we are amazed as we look at what has been happening with the Bonita community. Let’s take a quick look back, and then a look forward.

But first, the present! The Process Challenge is on! It’s simple. Share your best processes with the Bonita community in the Contributions section on www.bonitasoft.org.  You,  the community, will rate them. When your feedback indicates the top contributions, we’ll ask a jury of BPM experts to evaluate the final top ten and decide on the winners.

Besides our admiration and respect, the contributor of the top scoring process gets an iPad. And there are nine more prizes after that…

OK let’s look back a bit.
